Ingredients
- 2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2 tsp. salt
- 6 to 6 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Mix water, yeast, sugar and butter and let stand until bubbly (about 1/2 hour).

2Add egg, salt and about 5 cups of flour, a cup at a time.

3Transfer to floured surface and knead in remaining flour until smooth.

4Place in an oiled bowl for an hour or more, until doubled.

5Punch down dough and divide dough in half.

6Shape into loaves and place in oiled loaf pans.

7Let sit until double, about an hour.

8Bake at 375° for 20 minutes.

9Makes 2 oblong loaves.
