  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

    Sift together dry ingredients.

    Add shortening, milk (2/3) and vanilla.

    Mix until smooth stiff batter.

    Add eggs and 1/3 milk. Mix to smooth batter. Pour into 2 (8-inch) greased cake pans. Cool and ice.
