  • 3 or 4 slices bread (not toasted)
  • 1 doz. eggs
  • 1 lb. sausage, bacon or ham
  • 2 c. milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 to 4 oz. grated Cheddar or American cheese

Directions

    Butter 9 x 13-inch casserole dish; line with 3 to 4 pieces of bread.

    Beat eggs and milk together.

    Add cheese to mixture, then crumble in the meat.

    Pour over bread and refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350°, uncovered, for approximately 40 minutes or until knife comes out clean.

    Should resemble a custard in consistency. When done, cut into squares and serve.
