- 6 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. vanilla
- 5 c. milk, scalded
- nutmeg (optional)
- 2 (9-inch) pie shells, chilled

1Beat eggs slightly.

2Add sugar, salt and vanilla.

3Add milk while stirring constantly.

4Sprinkle nutmeg over pie after filling crusts.

5Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.

6Do not overbake.

7You may add 3/4 to 1 cup coconut to recipe for Coconut Custard Pie.

8Pie is done when jiggled and center appears firm, but soft.
