Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 6 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. milk
  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Gradually stir sugar into egg yolks.

    Add melted butter; beat well.

    Add milk and vanilla.

    Dissolve soda and cream of tartar in milk.

    Add to mixture.

    Combine and add flour, nutmeg, baking powder and salt.

    Drop from doughnut maker into hot fat (370° to 380°).

    Turn once.

    Drain over fryer, then on paper towels. They do not absorb fat.
