Eight Layer Salad

Ingredients

  • 6 c. shredded lettuce
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • sliced tomatoes
  • 1 (1 lb.) can green peas, drained
  • mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • grated cheese (lots)
  • 8 slices crumbled bacon, fried first

Directions

    In a large bowl, layer salad in order beginning with lettuce. Spread mayonnaise over top of green peas as you would spread a meringue.

    Spread to edges of bowl.

    (This layer must be sealed completely.)

    Sprinkle over mayonnaise 2 tablespoons of sugar, grated cheese and bacon.

    Cover with Saran Wrap and refrigerate from 4 to 24 hours before serving.

    When serving, be careful not to scoop off the top but dig down in.
