- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4 oz.) can whole green chilies, seeded and finely chopped
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. cumin
- 1 c. shredded cheese
- oil
- 1/2 tsp. oregano leaves, crushed
- 1/2 c. onions, sliced
- 12 tortillas
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Combine tomato sauce, chilies, salt, oregano and cumin in small saucepan.

3Cover, simmer 10 minutes. Combine cheese and onion in small bowl.

4Reserve 1/4 cup for topping.

5Heat oil in frying pan.

6Dip tortilla in hot oil to soften; drain.

7Place in baking dish.
-
8Top with 2 tablespoons sauce and scant 1/4 cheese mixture.

9Repeat layers, ending with tortilla. Pour remaining sauce over stack.

10Bake 25 minutes.

11Top with remaining cheese mixture.
-
12Continue baking until cheese is melted. Cut in wedges.
