  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes or 5 or 6 fresh ripe tomatoes
  • 4 to 5 slices leftover toast or bread
  • 1/2 stick oleo or butter
  • salt and pepper
  • pinch of sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vinegar
