Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. orange and lemon flavorings
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 egg whites
  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

    Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.

    Add water and continue beating until very thick.

    Gradually add sugar and extract.

    Sift flour with salt 3 times.

    Fold in egg yolk mixture a little at a time.

    Beat egg whites until foamy and then add cream of tartar.

    Beat until real moist and glossy looking.

    Fold this into first mixture.

    Bake in ungreased pan at 325° for 1 hour. Remove from oven, invert pan and completely cool before removing from the pan. cut into 3 layers and fill with the filling.
