  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/4 tsp. ginger
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 large can evaporated milk
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 c. flour

Directions

    In large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Blend in ginger and 1 tablespoon sugar; let stand in warm place until mixture begins to bubble.

    Using an electric mixer, stir in remaining 2 tablespoons sugar, milk, salt, oil and 3 cups flour.

    Blend in remaining cup of flour with spoon; knead on floured surface. Place dough in 2 well-greased one-pound coffee cans.

    Place plastic lids on cans; let dough rise until lids are pushed off. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes.

    Delicious frozen and reheated.
