- 1 lb. Gouda cheese
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- pepper to taste
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 c. dry white wine
- 2 tsp. Kirsch
- bread, cubed
- 2 tsp. garlic, finely chopped
Directions

1Grate cheese.

2Melt butter in saucepan and add flour, stirring with a wire whisk.

3Add milk, stirring rapidly with whisk.

4When blended and smooth, add garlic, pepper, nutmeg and wine.

5Add Kirsch, if desired.

6Serve hot with bread cubes for dipping.

7If the sauce is to be used over vegetables, omit the Kirsch.
