  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 TBSP sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 TBSP cider vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup very cold water

    Using a pastry cutter or a large fork, mix together the flour, shortening, sugar and salt. In a separate dish, beat remaining ingredients to combine. Make a well in the flour mixture and pour in the wet ingredients. Mix with a pastry cutter or large fork just to combine. Form a ball and cover with saran and chill at least 15 minutes before rolling. Dough can be refrigerated for 3 days or can be frozen until ready to use.
