- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 6 cups flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Dissolve dry yeast in 1/2 cup water.

2In a large bowl combine dissolved yeast, rest of water, shortening, sugar and salt.

3Add flour a little at a time. When all flour has been added, knead well.

4Let rise. Turn onto floured board and knead again. Divide in half. Form two long loaves.

5You can use a French bread pan or cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes.
