Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. flour

Directions

    Cream butter, sugar and 1 egg at a time; cream thoroughly. Add salt and vanilla; stir in alternately part of milk and 2 cups of flour.

    Mix baking powder in third cup of flour; continue milk and flour until a thick smooth batter.

    Deep fry in at least 2 inches of hot fat (400°).

    Self turning, done on second turn. (First batter, push off by finger.)
