  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 medium apples, chopped

Directions

    Cream the sugar and shortening. Add eggs and blend well.

    Sift flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Add vanilla to creamed mixture, then blend in the dry ingredients.

    Fold in the apples and nuts to the other mixture. Bake in a 9 x 13-inch or larger pan at 350° for 45 minutes.
