Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. salad oil or shortening
  • 2 or 3 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda, salt, cinnamon and baking powder
  • 1 c. pecans
  • 3 c. chopped raw apples
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. caramel or butterscotch pieces
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

    Mix oil, eggs and sugar.

    Sift all dry ingredients and add to mixture.

    Stir in apples and nuts.

    Top with 1/2 chips.

    Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 1 hour.

    Pour half of chips in batter and the other half on top.

    Improves flavor if sits 1 day.
