  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. fresh fruit (rhubarb is best)
  • 1/2 c. (3 oz. pkg.) strawberry gelatin

Directions

    Mix first 8 ingredients as for a stiff cake batter.

    Put batter in slightly greased 6 x 10-inch glass baking dish.

    Put rhubarb on top of batter; sprinkle gelatin on top.
