- 8 chicken drumsticks
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. buttermilk
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Put drumsticks in bowl.

2Pour buttermilk over and turn to coat each piece.

3Marinate in refrigerator an hour.

4Combine dry ingredients in plastic bag.

5Add drumsticks and shake until coated.

6Melt shortening in electric fryer on medium-high heat. Add drumsticks and cook until lightly browned, turning frequently. Reduce heat to low.

7Cover and cook 20 minutes, turning frequently.

8Remove cover.

9Cook on medium-high heat for 3 minutes to get crisp.

10Drain on paper towels.
