- 6 or 8 firm green tomatoes, sliced in 1/4-inch circles
- flour
- cornmeal
- salt and pepper
Directions

1Mix flour, meal, salt and pepper and dip the slices into this mixture, coating both sides generously.

2Fry each slice until golden brown.

3Place on paper towel to drain.

4Ripe or nearly ripe tomatoes may be fried in the same way, but being juicier, may require more flour in the coating mix.

5Bacon grease is the tastiest way to fry them.
