- 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1 c. self-rising meal
- vegetable oil

1Wash and slice okra.

3Combine eggs and buttermilk.

4Add okra.

5Let stand 10 minutes.

6Combine flour and meal.

7Drain okra, small portions at a time, using slotted spoon.

8Dredge okra, small portions at a time in flour mixture. Put 2 to 3 inches of oil in a Dutch oven or heavy saucepan.

9Heat and fry okra to golden brown.

10Drain on paper towels.
