  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg white
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Sift together first 3 ingredients.

    Mix shortening, white sugar, vanilla and eggs until fluffy.

    Blend in flour.

    Spread in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Beat egg white with salt until stiff.

    Beat in brown sugar.

    Spread on dough.

    Top with nuts.

    Bake 30 minutes at 325°.

    Cut in squares or bars.
