Fruit Cocktail Cake

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 can (medium size) fruit cocktail (juice left in)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. cloves (optional)

Directions

    Mix above ingredients well.

    Put in a 9 x 9-inch pan lined with the following:

    1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup margarine (melted).

    If desired, sprinkle the top with nuts.

    Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.

    Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
