  • 1 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1 box brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 3 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 2 lb. chopped dates
  • 1 lb. jar pineapple preserves
  • 3 lb. pecans (12 c.)
  • 12 slices pineapple
  • 1 lb. cherries

    Cream butter and sifted sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Add vanilla, milk and preserves.

    Sift flour and soda together and add to butter mixture.

    Have all fruits and nuts cut up into small pieces.

    Roll in extra flour; shake off as much flour as possible. Add to batter.

    Mix with hands until all fruits are well covered. Drop on greased pan.

    Bake in slow 350° oven for about 18 minutes.
