Fruit Nut Bread

Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 3/4 c. boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 c. quick cooking rolled oats
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 2 tsp. salt
- 5 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. raisins, dates or prunes, finely cut
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Pour boiling water and milk into large bowl with butter, oats, molasses and salt.

3Stir in yeast mixture and add to oat mixture.

4Add half of the flour and beat until well blended.

5Work in the rest of the flour with the fruits and nuts.

6Blend well.

7Cover bowl and let dough rise in a warm place

8for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until double in size.

9Punch down and form into two loaves.

10Put into 2 greased loaf pans, 5 x 9 x 3-inches.

11Let rise about 1 hour or until dough reaches top of pan.

12Bake in a moderate oven at 375° for 45 to 50 minutes, or until well browned.

13Cool on racks.

14Makes 2 loaves.
