- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 3 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Mix sugar, cornstarch and cocoa in 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in milk and cook over medium heat until thick. Remove from heat.

2Stir a small amount of hot mixture into beaten egg yolks.

3Return to saucepan mixture and cook 5 minutes more. Remove from heat.

4Stir in butter and vanilla.

5Cool 5 minutes and pour into baked pie shell.

6Spread meringue to edges, covering pie, and bake about 10 minutes in a 350° oven.
