- vegetable oil for frying
- 2 c. unsifted plain flour
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients and sift together in large bowl.

2Make a well in center.

3Pour in mixture of eggs and milk.

4With a large spoon, mix until batter is smooth.

5Pour 1 to 1 1/2-inches of oil into heavy 12-inch skillet.

6Heat until hot, but not smoking. Place 1/3 cup batter into a funnel, placing finger over tip until ready to dribble.

7Dribble batter into hot oil, slowly moving the funnel in a circle.

8This will build a snail-like coil of 3 to 4 rings, about 6-inches across.

9Fry about 2 minutes on each side, turning only once.
