Game Day Onion Rings

- 1 whole White Or Sweet Onion
- 2 cups Buttermilk
- 2 whole Eggs
- 3 cups Flour
- 2 Tablespoons Salt, Plus Additional For Finished Rings
- 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Ground Pepper
- 48 ounces, fluid Vegetable Oil
Directions

1Pour oil into a large Dutch oven just enough until it reaches about 2 inches in depth, and heat to 350 to 375F.

2Slice white or sweet onions in to very thin rings.

3In a large bowl combine buttermilk and eggs.

4In a second large bowl combine flour, salt, pepper, cayenne, and garlic powder.

5Place onion rings in the egg and buttermilk mixture and allow to soak for a few minutes (up to five minutes).

6Remove rings from the buttermilk mixture and coat in the flour mixture.

7Make sure to shake off all excess flour before droping each onion into the oil (when you drop an onion ring into the oil it should start bubbling and sizzling right away, if this doesnt happen, your oil isnt hot enough and you should heat the oil longer).

8Fry for 1-2 minutes until golden then remove to wire rack.

9Salt onion rings to taste immediately, while still hot.

10Repeat with the remaining onion rings.

11Keep in a warm oven until ready to serve.
