Garlic Bread Sticks

- 2 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 stick butter or margarine, melted
- 2/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp. oregano leaves
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Cut shortening into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Add milk and stir with a fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl.

4Turn dough onto lightly floured board or pastry cloth and knead until smooth.

5Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness.

6Cut dough into 1/2-inch strips with floured knife. Cut strips into 3-inch sticks.

7Dip sticks into melted butter and roll into mixture of Parmesan cheese, oregano and garlic salt. Place on lightly greased baking sheet, about 3/4-inch apart.

8Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

9Makes 3 dozen sticks.
