- 1 pkg. Baker's German chocolate
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 egg yolks (unbeaten)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 egg whites
Directions

1Melt chocolate in the boiling water.

2Cool.

3Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each.

5Add chocolate and vanilla.

6Sift together salt, soda and flour.

7Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture, beating well after each addition.

8Beat until batter is smooth.

9Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Pour into 3 baking pans.

10Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
