- 5 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. blanched almonds, chopped
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
Directions

1Beat eggs lightly; add sugar and stir together.

2Add flour, sifted with a pinch of salt, the baking powder and the spices. Dredge almonds in a little flour and fold in.

3Add flavoring. Bake in a large, shallow pan in a 350° oven, raising heat gradually to 375°.

4Bake from 45 minutes to 1 hour.

5Cool cake in the pan.

6Cut in squares.

7Recipe makes 1 large cake.
