- 1/4 c. soft shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and 1 teaspoon ginger with water.

2Add remaining ingredients.

3Chill dough.

4Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 400° for 7 to 8 minutes.

6Frost.
