Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. soft shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. water

Directions

    Mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and 1 teaspoon ginger with water.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Chill dough.

    Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 400° for 7 to 8 minutes.
