- COOKIES
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon clove
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- FROSTING
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons milk (approx.)
Directions

1FOR COOKIES: Mix together sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg.

2Sift together remaining dry ingredients and add to molasses mixture.

3Bake@ 400 for 8 minutes.

4Cool~ Frost with Vanilla Frosting.

5FOR FROSTING: Mix together sugar and butter; beat in vanilla and enough milk to make it smooth and of spreading consistency.
