  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add beaten eggs and molasses. Sift dry ingredients.

    Add alternately with warm water.

    Bake at 325° for 30 minutes in slightly greased jelly roll pan.

    Frost with powdered sugar frosting.

    Cut while warm.

    For thicker bars, use 13 x 9-inch pan.
