- 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. light molasses
- 3/4 c. hot water
- whipped cream
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Grease and flour 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sift flour with baking soda, spices and salt.

3Set aside.

4In large bowl of electric mixer at high speed, beat butter, sugar and eggs until smooth.

5About 5 minutes on low speed, beat in molasses and water.

6Add flour mixture, beating just until smooth. Bake 35 to 40 minutes.

7Serve with whipped cream.

8Makes 12 servings.
