  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. hot water

Directions

    Cream sugar and butter. Add egg and molasses. Add all dry ingredients. Mix well. Add hot water and beat until smooth. Pour into 9 x 13-inch cake pan (greased and floured). Bake at 325° for 35 minutes. Serve with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
