- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- pinch of cloves
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar or 2 Tbsp. molasses
- 1/2 c. skimmed milk
- 2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp. margarine
Directions

1In small bowl, add 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 1/2 cup skimmed milk to make sour milk; set aside.

2Beat egg and sugar or molasses until fluffy.

3Mix milk, margarine, sifted flour, baking soda and spices together.

4Add egg and sugar; beat until smooth.

5Bake in an 8-inch pan (greased) at 350° for 25 or 30 minutes.
