  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. syrup
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. nuts (optional)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. ginger

Directions

    Dip bread into eggs and milk.

    Put on a hot pan on stove until brown.

    Put syrup and cinnamon and powdered sugar on top.
