- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 to 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 c. hot water
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Cream shortening with sugar until fluffy.

4Beat until light and fluffy.

5Beat in molasses.

6Slowly beat in flour mixture alternately with hot water.

7Pour into well-greased pan.
