  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

    Cream brown sugar and shortening until lightly fluffy.

    Beat in molasses and beaten egg; sift in flour, baking soda, ginger and salt.

    Chill 2 hours.

    Divide dough into fourths.

    Roll out to your thickness; cut with cutters.

    Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes at 350°.
