- 1/3 c. brown sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 2/3 c. molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream brown sugar and shortening until lightly fluffy.

2Beat in molasses and beaten egg; sift in flour, baking soda, ginger and salt.

3Chill 2 hours.

4Divide dough into fourths.

5Roll out to your thickness; cut with cutters.

6Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes at 350°.

7Cool slightly.
