- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Directions

1Preheat oven to 325°.

2In saucepan combine sugar, shortening and molasses.

3Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.

4Remove from heat; cool to room temperature.

5Stir in remaining ingredients in order listed; blend well.

6Roll out dough on lightly floured board to 1/8-inch thickness.

7Cut with cookie cutters.

8Bake on ungreased cookie sheets 10 to 12 minutes.

9Cool and decorate as desired.
