- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup boiling water
Directions

1Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and molasses, beating until smooth

2Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients; stir well

3Spoon batter into a preheated, lightly oiled waffle iron, following manufacturer's directions. Cook 5 minutes or until brown and crisp. Repeat procedure with remaining batter.
