  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ginger

Directions

    Cream sugar and shortening.

    Add molasses and egg.

    Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together.

    Roll into balls the size of a walnut.

    Roll in granulated sugar.

    Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.
