- 1 stick butter or margarine
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- sugar (for top)
Directions

1Cream butter with brown sugar until light and fluffy.

2Add molasses and egg.

3Beat well.

4Sift flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and cloves.

5Add flour mixture to batter and beat well. Roll into 1-inch balls.

6Dip ball into sugar and arrange, sugar side up, 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

7Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes until cracked on top.
