  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

    Mix first four ingredients together.

    Sift together and add soda, flour, salt, ginger and cinnamon.

    Chill, if necessary. Roll into balls the size of a walnut.

    Dip top in granulated sugar.

    Place sugared side up on a greased cookie sheet.

    Do not press down.

    Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 4 dozen.
