- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Combine sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices.

3Stir lightly.

4Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs.

5Stir in molasses and egg.

6Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in sugar.

7Place on ungreased baking sheets.

8Remove immediately from cookie sheets when done.

9Bake 10 minutes.
