  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg, beaten until fluffy
  • 2 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions

    Mix together first 4 ingredients.

    Sift remaining ingredients together.

    Add to first mixture and form into small balls.

    Roll in granulated sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.
