Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 to 6 c. assorted nuts
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. butter rum flavoring

Directions

    Combine sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in pan.

    Cover and cook on medium heat without stirring until it comes to a boil. Uncover and boil until 300° (hard crack stage).

    Meanwhile, spread nuts in shallow pan and put in oven heated to 350° for 10 minutes. Reduce heat under candy mix to very low and add heated nuts, butter and flavorings.

    Stir just until nuts are coated and butter is melted.

    Turn into large sieve or colander and let set one minute to drain off extra syrup.

    Spread onto 2 buttered cookie sheets and separate quickly with 2 forks.

    When cool, pack in containers.
