Golden Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. mace
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. undiluted evaporated milk
  • powdered sugar (optional)

Directions

    In medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and mace; set aside.

    In large mixer bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Add dry ingredients alternately with small amounts of evaporated milk, beating well after each addition.

    Pour into greased and floured 10-inch fluted tube pan. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden skewer comes out clean.

    Cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan.

    Dust with sifted powdered sugar.
