- 3 c. graham cracker crumbs
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2/3 c. walnuts, ground
- 1 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Grease and flour 2 (9-inch) cake pans.

2Preheat oven to 350°. Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside.

3Blend shortening and sugar.

4Add egg yolks, vanilla and milk.

5Add graham cracker crumbs and baking powder, then walnuts.

6Fold egg whites into batter.

7Pour evenly into pans and bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched.

8Let cake cool and then frost.
