- 50 clams (scrubbed good)
- 1/2 lb. bacon
- 2 large onions
- 3 stalks celery
- 1 lb. bag carrots
- 1 lb. can crushed tomatoes
- pepper, to taste
- ground thyme, to taste
Directions

1Steam open clams, cool and chop.

2Fry

3bacon until well done. Fry onion and celery until brown.

4Use water from steaming for broth.

5Add some water (to taste) to cut down broth.

6To broth add carrots, celery, onions, tomatoes, crushed bacon and fat, pepper, thyme.

7Bring to boil, then simmer until carrots are soft.

8Then add chopped clams, simmer for 15 minutes longer.
